Los Sueños, Herradura and Punta Leona: how the area fits together

Los Sueños Resort and Marina sits on Herradura Bay on Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast, in the province of Puntarenas. It is a gated resort with a marina, a golf course and a Marriott hotel, and our resort villas and condos sit inside its communities, such as Del Mar and Vista Tres Bahias.

Herradura is the town around the resort. It is where you find homes and condos outside the resort gates, and in our listings they cost less than the ones inside. Punta Leona is a separate gated beach community nearby, with its own beach club. Jacó, the closest larger beach town, is close too, which is why many people compare the two. So when someone says "Los Sueños", they can mean three different things: a week in a resort villa, a few months in a condo in Herradura, or buying a home in a gated community like Punta Leona. The sections below take them one at a time.

Los Sueños vacation rentals: condo or villa?

Our three short-stay options inside the resort, with prices per night as listed:

The condo is the right size for a family or two couples. The two villas are built for larger groups who want one house with a bedroom for everyone, such as a family reunion, a fishing trip with friends or a wedding party. If your group is somewhere in between, do the math: at $1,100 a night, the 6 bedroom villa costs less than two condos at $575 each, with the whole group under one roof.

Long-term rentals near Los Sueños

Many people who search for Los Sueños rentals want a few months, not a few nights. For that, Herradura and Punta Leona carry most of our options. Prices are per month:

The pattern is clear: Herradura is the most affordable way to live next to the resort, Punta Leona adds a gated beach community and beach club, and living inside the resort costs the most.
